Rock Rapids, Iowa Cheryl Ann Van Den Top, age 63 of Doon, IA died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, IA with Rev. Donald Baker officiating. Inurnment will take place prior to the service at the Doon Cemetery in Doon, IA. Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, IA. In lieu of flowers, family wishes memorials be directed to Lyon County Hospice and American Cancer Society. Cheryl Ann Van Den Top was born Aapril 14, 1949 in Rock Rapids, IA to Paul and Caroline (Lokhorst) Stange. She was raised on a farm near Doon, IA and attended Central Lyon Schools and graduated in 1967. On June 30, 1967 she was united in marriage to George Van Den Top at St. Paul Lutheran Church near Hull, IA. To this union 3 children were born. She worked at Tri State Implement from 1975 to 1979. From 1979 until 2000 she was a homemaker and helped with milking cows. From 2000 until the present she has worked at Pella in Sioux Center. She was a member of First Reformed Church in Doon where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was also a member of the Ladies Circle. Cheryl volunteered with Hospice of Lyon County. She enjoyed collecting Watt pottery, gardening, baking and cooking and bird watching. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, George Van Den Top of Doon, IA; son, Paul Van Den Top of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Missy (Jayd) Borman of Rock Rapids, IA; and Derek (Amy) Van Den Top of Sioux Falls, SD; 3 grandchildren, Reese Borman, Wyatt Van Den Top and Cameron Borman; sisters, Sandra Schar of Sioux Falls, SD and Linda Vogel of Sioux City, IA; brother, Dr. Randall (Cynthia) Stange of Orange City, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Paulette Gail Stange; parents-in-law, Dick and Minnie Van Den Top; and special cousin, Bill DeJager.
