Cecil John Huss was born on June 4, 1919, the son of Joe and Margaret (Tremmel) Huss in Ashton, IA. He grew up in Ashton and attended the St. Joseph Catholic School. On November 19, 1942, he was united in marriage to Eva Seivert at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton. To this union six children were born, Bob, Gary, Richard, Dianne, Tom and Randy. The couple farmed the Huss Family farm south of Ashton until Cecil was 92, when he and his wife of seventy years moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon. During the time they farmed Cecil sold De Kalb seed corn for twelve years. He loved the month of February and the pending spring. The area farmers would come to the farm and place orders over coffee and in between they would settle some of the worldly problems. Cecil was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus for sixty-five years. He enjoyed baseball especially the Detroit Tigers and was a football fan. He loved to visit his family and would travel to Las Vegas from time to time to visit his granddaughter and occasionally make time to go to the casino. When he would visit his grandchildren they looked forward to hearing his stories. He will be greatly missed. Cecil is survived by his wife, Eva Huss of Sheldon, IA; five children, Bob (Cathy) Huss of Columbus, NE, Gary Huss of Scottsbluff, NE, Dianne Phelps of Lakewood, CO, Tom (Cheryl) Huss of Becker, MN and Randy (Jan) Huss of Ashton, IA; daughter-in-law, Virginia Huss of Ashton, IA; sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Eloise Kuiper of Ashton, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Margaret Huss; son, Richard Huss; two brothers-in-law, Bernard and Marvin Seivert; and two sisters-in-law, Mabel and Dorothy Seivert.
