Emma Marie Gerber

Lester, IA Emma M. Gerber, age 98 of Lester, IA, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Sanford Lurvene Hospital in Luverne, MN. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 29th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. Burial will take place at Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Lester, IA. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 28th with family present at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester, IA. Emma Marie (Feucht) Gerber was born to Carl and Pauline (Knobloch) Feucht on January 13, 1910 near Lester, Iowa. Emma attended school in Logan Township. On November 8, 1932 she was married to Ted Gerber. They farmed in the Hills, MN and Lester, IA areas, until 1972, when they retired from farming and moved into Lester. Emma became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in 1949. During her childrens early school years she loved to sew costumes for their various Christmas programs. She enjoyed raising and butchering chickens for her family and friends throughout the area. She loved working in her gardens so she could give the extra produce to others. Baking, ironing, knitting and tatting were a few of her delights. After retiring to Lester, Emma enjoyed cleaning homes in Sioux Falls, SD where she acquired many more friends and often spoke of various experiences in the carpool to Sioux Falls. Some of her greatest pleasures were being with her family and visiting with neighbors and friends. In 2005, she moved into the Tuff Village, an assisted living facility in Hills, MN and into the Tuff Memorial Home in 2007. On April 20, Emma was moved to Sanford Hospice in Luverne, MN were she died this past Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the age of 98. Emma is survived by a daughter, Pauline Teubel of Dunlap, IL six sons, Robert (Nancy) Gerber of Lester, IA, John (Donna) Gerber of Doon, IA, Ernie (Sharon) Gerber of Danville, IN, Wayne Gerber of Mansfield, OH, Bill (Erma) Gerber of Lester, IA and Jim (Marlene) Gerber of Larchwood, IA; 35 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Schick of Washington, IL; two brothers, Paul Feucht of Canton, SD and John Feucht of Morton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Ted; one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Gerber; one son-in-law, Dave Teubel; three sisters and eight brothers.
