Little Rock, IA Elizabeth Liz Arends, age 76 of Little Rock, IA died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Lyon Manor Nursing & Rehab Center of Rock Rapids. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, Jan. 31st at First Baptist Church, rural George, IA, with Rev. Steve May officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 30th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Elizabeth Irene Arends was born May 12, 1934 at a home south of Little Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Klaas and Elizabeth (Kruse) Kruse. She attended country school and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1952. She began working at Rock Rapids State Bank in Little Rock. Liz was united in marriage to Henry Hank Arends on November 28, 1955. In 1957 they moved to Sibley, IA, where Liz worked at Sibley State Bank. In 1958 they moved back to Little Rock, where she worked various jobs in the area. In 1961 they moved to a farm northwest of Little Rock and remained there until 1995, when they moved to their current farm, also northwest of Little Rock. She was a member of First Baptist Church, near George, IA, active with many church activities. She loved shopping at Margarites Clothing Store and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Lizs faith, family and friends remained her priority in life. This past Thursday, January 27, 2011, Liz died at Lyon Manor Nursing & Rehab Center in Rock Rapids, IA, at the age of 76. She is survived by her husband, Henry Arends of Little Rock, IA; four children, Lon (Linda) Arends of Ellsworth, MN, Len (Tonya) of Little Rock, IA, Layton (Dawn) of Little Rock, IA and Lana (Bruce) Henrichs of Kanaranzi, MN; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one sister, Claretta Van Sloten of Rock Rapids, IA; one sister-in-law, Eldores Dykstra of Hull, IA; and many other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Klaas and Elizabeth Kruse; three brothers; and seven sisters.
