Paul Knoblock

Lester, Iowa Paul Knoblock, age 88 of Lester, IA died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Sanford Hospital of Rock Rapids. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery at Lester. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 28th with the family present from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall. Paul Maurer Knoblock was born April 12, 1920 in Logan Township near Lester, Iowa, the son of August and Emma (Maurer) Knoblock. As a young man, he attended country school near Lester and worked with the day to day activities of the family farm. Paul entered the Army Air Corp in 1942 and served his country until 1945. He was stationed in North Africa, Egypt, Libia, Sicily, Italy, India and China. Paul came back from the war and began farming south east of Lester. On August 6, 1946 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Kathryn Hansen. The couple farmed in the Lester area until 1951 at which time they moved to Dallas County Iowa. There, they continued farming until their retirement in 1976. Paul and Dorothy then moved to Tucson, Arizona. In 1979 He became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. During his retirement Paul worked for fifteen years at Wal-Mart. He was a life member of the American Legion as well as the Disabled American Veterans. He loved music and was an avid guitar player. Paul also loved to raise roses in his flower garden. He was a man who had time for everyone and he was truly a joy to be with. He enjoyed being a farmer and working with his livestock. Paul and his wife enjoyed taking trips together and over the years they were able to visit countries all over the world. This past Tuesday morning Paul died at the age of 88 at the Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids. He will be greatly missed. Paul is survived by two sons, John (Lupita) Knoblock of Nogales, AZ and Joe (Linda) Knoblock of Benson, AZ; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, August, Jr. (Florence) Knoblock of Lester, IA; one sister, Louise Anlicker of West Bend, IA; sister-in-law, (brother Martins wife) Zelma Knoblock of Lester, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; wife of 47 years, Dorothy Knoblock; brother, Martin Knoblock, sister, Christine Schmidt and grandson Gabriel Knoblock.
