Charles "Chuck" Hoffman, age 57, of Hills, MN died Thursday, June 25, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Sunday, June 28th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, MN with Pastor Mary Dodgson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, June 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills, MN. Charles Hoffman was born July 8, 1951 in Luverne, MN to Walter and Marge (Stanton) Hoffman. He was raised in Hills and graduated from Hills Beaver Creek High School in 1969. Chuck started working at the Sioux Falls Stockyards in 1972 along with attending College and working toward his teaching certificate. Chuck attended Worthington Jr. College and Sioux Falls College and graduated with a degree in Elementary education in 1974. He taught 4th grade at the Beresford Elementary School for 25 years. It is said as a teacher Mr. Hoffman was stern and a disciplinarian, but he was also just as well known as being very caring and an excellent teacher. Many will remember him fondly from their childhood days. After his retirement from teaching Chuck continued to work at the Sioux Falls Stockyards to the present time. He loved to play softball and was a lifelong member of the Hills Fast Pitch Softball team where he played the positions of pitcher and occasionally statistician. Chuck also enjoyed coin collecting and was a Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed fantasy football. This past Thursday morning Chuck died as a result of an automobile accident. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include brother, Wayne (Marilyn) Brown of Luverne, MN, brother, Darrell (Marie) Brown of Hills, MN, brother, Bruce (Donna) Hoffman of Sioux Falls, SD, brother, Dennis (Stacey) Hoffman of Spring Valley, MN; brother-in-law, John Buysse of Granite Falls, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Marge Hoffman; brother, Kenneth Hoffman; sister, Sherry Buysse and sister, Darlene Hoffman.
