Joann Folkens

Rock Rapids, IA JoAnn Folkens, age 75 of Rock Rapids, Iowa went home to Heaven on July 3, 2007. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday July 6th at Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids with Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., with the family present form 6 - 8 PM Thursday at the Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids JoAnn Folkens was born May 21, 1932 in Little Rock, IA, the daughter of Tom K. and Grace (Kruse) De Berg. She was raised in Little Rock and attended the community schools. Later in life she enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching game shows and shopping on Fridays with friends. JoAnn was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and New York Yankee fan. She was a devoted Mother, Father and Best friend to her children. She will be dearly loved and missed! Grateful for sharing her life and her love are her sons; Doug and Dennis, her daughters; Donna and husband Bill, Dawn and Denise; eight; grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Sisters Margaret Calsbeek, Delores and husband John Van Dyk; Special Sister-in-law Betty De Berg; and Special Friend Jo Hindt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Grace De Berg; two sisters, Gertrude Wiertzema and Grace De Berg; one brother, Donald De Berg; and son, Dean Folkens.
