Rock Rapids, IA Michael Schubert, age 48 of Rock Rapids, IA died Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA. Funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5th at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids with Fr. Jeff Schleisman, celebrating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Catholic Cemetery at Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Michael Mike Scott Schubert was born September 5, 1958, at Rock Rapids, IA the son of Merlyn and Elizabeth (Matthiesen) Schubert. Mike grew up in Rock Rapids where he attended grade school and graduated from Central Lyon High School in 1977. In high school, Mike enjoyed playing football and was on the teams that won two state championships. He was 1st Team All-State Center his senior year. After his education he began driving truck for McCormack Transportation Co. in Rock Rapids. Mike enjoyed going camping and working in his yard or improving his home. This past Friday June 1, 2007, Mike died unexpectedly at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital at the age of forty-eight. He is survived by his daughter, Cammie Schubert of Denver, CO; his son, Trevor Schubert of Hull, IA; father, Merlyn and step-mother, Margaret Schubert of Rock Rapids, IA; two brothers, Randy Schubert of Springfield, SD; and Steven Schubert and his wife, Carol of Rock Rapids; one sister, Kathy and her husband, Kevin Fritz of Portland, OR; two step brothers, Jeff Winter of Burnsville, MN; and Kurt Winter of Clinton, IA; one step sister, Kathy Kinney of UK; and a special friend, Catherine Peterson of Rock Rapids. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Schubert; his grandparents, Elvin and Katherine Schubert and Fred and Leona Matthiesen. Blessed be his memory.
