Rock Rapids, IA Annabelle Kahl, age 77, of Rock Rapids, IA died Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 29th at Christian Church (Disciples) in Rock Rapids, with Pastor Carolyn Salberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery of Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Friday, December 28th from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 6-8 P.M. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Annabelle (Hagedon) Kahl was born December 12, 1930 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Anna (Johnson) Hagedon. She attended school in Rock Rapids and graduated in 1948. She started her career right out of high school at Riter Law Offices in Rock Rapids, Iowa. She was employed there for fifty-three years. On December 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to Ralph R. Kahl of Alvord, Iowa in the United Methodist Church of Rock Rapids, Iowa. She continued her career and helped her husband farm and assisted him with the bookkeeping in his business in later years. Upon her retirement from Austin, Haberkorn and Kippley, she worked part-time for the accounting firm of Siebrecht, Spitler and De Noble, CPAs and later for De Noble and Company, PC. She continued in their employ until her death. Annabelle enjoyed gardening and was an animal lover. There was always a pet in their home, which she considered and loved as members of the family. She was active in her church all of her life and was a caretaker of many relatives and friends through the years. Family was very important to Annabelle, and she was grateful her children remained in Rock Rapids and they were able to be together often and were helpful as her health became an issue in later years. Annabelle passed away after a sudden illness on Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at Sanford Hospital of Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of seventy-seven. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of fifty years, Ralph and her children, Daniel Kahl and his wife Lori Sue of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Lori Borman and her husband Keith of Rock Rapids, Iowa and her grandchildren Nicholas and Isaac Zimbelman of Rock Rapids, Iowa, two sisters, Clare Kimmel of Arnolds Park, Iowa and Marjorie Kahl of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and one brother Duane Hagedon of Sioux City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, twin girls (died in infancy) and Katherine Abbott, three brothers, Albert, Alfred and Ralph Hagedon. Blessed be her memory.
