Betty Jane Boeve

Steen, Minnesota Betty Boeve, age 75 died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the Sanford Luverne Community Hospital in Luverne, MN. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 24th at the Steen Reformed Church in Steen, MN, with Rev. Dan Ramaker officiating. Private family burial will take place prior to the service, at the Eastside Cemetery in Steen. Visitation will be Friday, March 23rd from 2 " 8 PM, with the family present from 5 " 8 PM at the Steen Reformed Church in Steen. Betty Jane Boeve was born on May 17, 1931 at Steen, MN, the daughter of Dick and Dena (Hoff) Bosch. She was raised in Steen, MN attending the Steen Elementary School and graduated from Luverne High School in 1949. On June 22, 1949, Betty was united in marriage to Edward Boeve at her parents home in Steen. MN. Soon after their marriage they moved to the family farm, where she remained until 2002 when she moved to her home in Luverne. This union was blessed with nine children. Along with raising the children Betty worked with her husband on the family farm and business. She was a member of the Steen Reformed Church, active with various church events and card clubs. On August 15, 1976, her husband, Edward died after 27 years of marriage. With the help of other family members Betty raised the remaining four children still living at home, and worked part-time at Wallys Nursery in Hills, MN and Hardees restaurant in Luverne, MN. She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments figurines, working with plants and flowers and following the activities of her children and grandchildren. She loved music, shopping with her daughters and bus tours, especially to Branson, MO, where she attended several shows. Her family will remember her as a strong, humble, loving and nurturing mother who always put her faith, family and friends first. In February of 2007 Betty was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She died this past Tuesday, March 20, 2007, with her family by her side, at the Sanford Luverne Hospital in Luverne, MN, at the age of 75. Left to cherish her memory are 9 children, Donna (and Paul) Maroo of Dodge Center, MN, Connie (and Paul) Nelson of Austin, MN, Edwin (and Susan) Boeve of Stillwater, MN, Marcia (and Gary) Uithoven of Edgerton, MN, Sharon (and Bruce) Fraser of Edgerton, MN, Susan (and Howard) Vis of Hills, MN, Merle (and Melanie) Boeve of Clive, IA, Keith (and Marlys) Boeve of St. James, MN, and Pam (and Richard) Jeffer of Richmond, VA; 25 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Cornie (and Darlene) Bosch of Luverne, MN; a sister, Gert (and Dick) Hup of Hills, MN; 5 sisters-in-law, Laura Mae Bosch of Brandon, SD, Malena Boeve of Steen, MN, Nellie (and Marvin) Smith of Luverne, MN, Melba Boeve of Steen, MN, and Winifred Boeve of Omaha, AK; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Edward Boeve; brother Dries, 3 infant brothers, 1 infant sister and a grandchild.
