Steen, Minnesota Elizabeth Elbers age 101 of Steen, MN died Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at The Reformed Church of Steen with Rev. Dan Kuik, officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastside Cemetery at Steen, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 5th from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at The Reformed Church of Steen. Elizabeth Lizzie (Timmer) Elbers was born September 5, 1908 at Niew Schans Gronengen Netherlands, the daughter of Jan and Gezina (Klap) Timmer. She came with her parents, four brothers and one sister to America in 1913. She was united in marriage to William Elbers on March 22, 1929. They made their home for 62 ½ years together. They lived on the farm near Luverne and Steen areas and later moved into Steen. Elizabeth taught Sunday school and Catechism for 17 ½ years and was also a member of, Gleaner Circle, SWM Circle and the Girls Society. Lizzie called by many was the last charter member of The Reformed Church of Steen. She loved Bible study and the old Dutch psalms and also enjoyed to bake and do hand work. Lizzie was blessed with many years of good health. She became a resident of the Tuff Memorial Home on June 25, 2002, where she died this past Tuesday morning, November 3, 2009 at the age of 101. She is survived by her children, Gilbert W. and his wife, Henrietta Elbers of Luverne, MN; Cena Mae and her husband, Arvin Tilstra of Steen, MN; and JoAnn and her husband, Larry Moeller of Letcher, SD; also surviving are, ten grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers and two sisters.
