Mike Louis Moser

Lester, IA Mike Moser, age 48 of Lester, IA died Friday, August 7th, 2009 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, August 11th, 2009 at the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids with Rev. Dan Haggar and Rev. Katie Van Veldhuizen officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Lester. Visitation will be Monday, August 10th, with family present from 2:00 " 4:00 PM, and again at 6:00 " 8:00 PM at the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, IA. Mike Louis Moser was born April 15, 1961 in Rock Rapids, IA to Louis and Martina (LeLoux) Moser. He was raised on the family farm near Lester and received his education at West Lyon. On July 26, 1978 Mike married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Van Veldhuizen. To this union five children were born. Together the couple made their home on the family farm where they continued to farm with the help of their son, Keith. Mike was a wonderful, affectionate husband and best friend to Kathy. They farmed side by side to build a life and a family for themselves. Mike was a remarkable man. His children used words to describe him such as: a loving father, best friend, encourager, hard-worker, teacher, always being available for his family, a master manufacturer, creative and a farmer who took pride in his work. He designed and remodeled the house his family lives in. He was truly a man of many talents. Most importantly, Mike was a great dad and husband. As his illness progressed, his faith deepened and he became passionate about salvation. He taught his children by example to love God and to love one another. These lessons have and will serve them well for the rest of their lives. He became a member of First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids in December of 1989. Over the years he had served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and a RCYF sponsor. On August 7th, Mike won his battle against cancer, to receive his eternal reward in heaven. Mike is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathy; son, Jesse (Melissa) Moser and their children: Taylor, Jamie, Martin, and Cole, of Inwood, IA; son, Keith (Julie) Moser and their children: Lucas, Jude, and Korey of rural Lester; son, Daniel (Myranda) Moser of rural Lester; daughter, Tonya (Morris) Metzger of rural Lester, and son, Paul Moser of rural Lester; mother, Martina Moser of Rock Rapids; sisters, Judy (Leo) Weber of Tea, SD, Audrey (Mark) Metzger of rural Lester, and Polly (Rodney) Metzger of rural Lester; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Moser and infant brother, Jude.
