Hills, MN Ronald Rentschler, age 55 of Hills, MN died Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 27th, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, MN with Rev. Lowell Berg, officiating. Burial will follow in Flowerfield Cemetery at Hills, MN. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-9 p.m. with the family present from 6-9 p.m. at the Roste Funeral Home of Hills. Ronald Walter Rentschler was born on April 30, 1951 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Walter and Clara (Brovold) Rentschler. He was raised on the family farm near Hills, Minnesota. He attended Hills-Beaver Creek High School and graduated in 1969. After high school he enrolled in a 2 year program with the Pipestone Meat Cutting School. Ron then moved to Minneapolis, MN and worked as a meat cutter until June of 1973, when he moved back to the family farm. Ron was united in marriage to Lori Anderson on December 27, 1980 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, MN. The couple made their home on the family farm, where they currently live. Ron lived and breathed the life of a farmer. During the off-season he worked for over 25 years at the Hills Locker Service. He was member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Hills, MN, serving on the church council, Hills Beaver Creek Elevator Board, Rock County Farmers Union, Rock County Rural Water System, and FFA Alumni. His family will remember him best as warm and caring person who always had time for his family. A special memory was Christmas of 2005 where Ron and Lori celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary with their children in Hawaii. In May of 2004, Ron was diagnosed with A.L.S. Courageously, he continued to live on until this past Tuesday, October 24, 2006, when he died at the Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 55. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Lori Rentschler of Hills, MN; 2 children, Ryan Rentschler of Hills, MN and Jody and her husband, Trey Van Wyhe of Mililani, HI; 3 sisters, Cheryll, and her husband, Allan Boysen of Sioux Falls, SD, Lois Bass of Sioux Falls, SD, Marlene, and her husband, Dale Negus of Davenport, IA; 1 brother, Jon, and his wife, Connie Rentschler of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Clara Rentschler; and infant sister, Helen Rentschler.
