Lyle B. Bos

Lyle Bos, age 77 of Hills, MN died Wednesday, June 01, 2011 at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, June 4th at Steen Reformed Church in Steen, MN, with Rev. Dan Kuik officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery at rural Steen. Visitation will be Friday, June 3rd from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home in Hills, MN. Lyle B. Bos was born February 1, 1934 at the family farm northwest of Hills, Minnesota, the son of Joe W. and Jennie (Vis) Bos. At age 5 Lyle and his family moved to a farm southeast of Hills. He attended the Hills Community School and helped with the family farm. After his education he remained with his parents and worked at the Blue Ribbon Hatchery in Hills. In 1950 he took a job for John Morrell Packing Plant in Sioux Falls, SD. On October 15, 1954 Lyle was united in marriage to Dorothy Vander Steen at her parents home in Leota, MN. The couple moved to their home in Hills and in 1957 Lyle started a trucking business hauling livestock and grain. In 1974 he began working for the City of Hills and sold his trucks in 1981. In 1983 Lyle retired from the city and worked part time driving truck for various people in the area. He was a member of Steen Reformed Church in Steen, MN. He received many safety awards for the many miles he logged over the road. He loved to play Rook with his wife and other couples, and also enjoyed spending time in his truck garage tinkering and visiting with friends. Most of all, Lyle was fond of his family and friends. In May of 2011, Lyle entered the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills and remained there until this past Wednesday, June 1, 2011, when he died at the age of 77. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-six years, Dorothy Bos of Hills, MN; four children, Lila (Bill) Kroon of Steen, MN, Leo Bos of Hills, MN, Lora (Bob) Sayler of Sioux Falls, SD and Lois (Doug) Boeve of Beaver Creek, MN; ten grandchildren; Becky (Craig) Bontje, Stacy (Darin) Knobloch, Robin (Mike) Spath, Brian (Amy) Kroon, Nicole Sayler, Kelli Sayler, Danielle (Wyatt) Walter, Brianna (Mitchell) Leuthold, Brittany Boeve and Brandon Boeve; eleven great grandchildren; five in-laws, Henrietta Bos, Joann Bos, Tracy Veenstra, Minnie Bosch, and Marie (Elmer) Veldhuizen; and many nieces nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe W. and Jennie Bos; two brothers, Verlyn Bos and Maynard Bos; and nephew, Larry Bos.
