Sibley, Iowa Suzanne Sue Zenk, age 80 formerly of Sibley, IA died Thursday, April 8, 2010 in Greeley, CO. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at the St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley, with Father John Vakulskas as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Sunday, April 11th from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Suzanne Madeline (Pohlen) Zenk was born on March 20, 1930 in Linn Grove, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Croatt) Pohlen. Sue grew up and attended school in Linn Grove and attended college at St. Marys College in Omaha, NE. She was united in marriage to Alvin Zenk on November 23, 1950 in Alton, IA. The couple made their home on a farm called Oleo Acres north of Sibley, IA, where they farmed for nearly forty years. Sue worked at the Osceola Extension Service for several years. The couple retired in 1989 and lived in Sibley for several more years. Sue was a long-time member of the Sibley chapter of the Catholic Daughters of America and was very active at St. Andrews Catholic Church. After forty-eight years of marriage, Alvin died on January 4, 1998. Sue moved to Greeley, CO in 2005, where she was close to her sons family. Sue was a very active member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Greeley, CO. Sue loved to travel and saw most of the world; from the Philippines to the Panama Canal and all over Europe. She was an avid volunteer for many charitable organizations both in Sibley and in Greeley. Sue loved to visit with family and friends. Sue is survived by her five children, Theresa Riley of Sibley, IA, Mary (husband, Richard) Bailey of Las Vegas, NV, Michael (wife, BJ) Zenk of Granger, IN, Joan (husband, Richard) Johnson of Worthington, MN, and Daniel (wife, Susan) Zenk of Greeley, CO; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Pohlen of Destin, FL and Joe Pohlen of Highlands Ranch, CO; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alvin, two brothers, Paul and Michael Pohlen; and one sister, Audrey Popp.
