POSTPONED PLEASE NOTICE, SERVICE TIMES HAVE BEEN AMENDED AS FOLLOWS; Irving L. Stallman, age 77 formerly of Ashton, IA died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton, with Father Robert J. Schimmer as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 26th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Ashton. There will be a rosary at 4:00 PM and a vigil service at 7:00 PM. Irving Leonard Stallman was born on February 10, 1932, the son of Leonard and Rose (Dries) Stallman on a farm near Ashton, Iowa. He grew up and attended St. Josephs Catholic School. Irving helped his parents manage the farm and took over farming after his parents passing. Prior to his parents passing his sister La Vonne moved back home to help him take care of his parents. He and his sister were very close and enjoyed farm life. In 2003, Irving retired from farming and later went into the Country View Manor nursing home in January of 2004. He was a member of the St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton and was very strong in his faith. He loved farming, watching NASCAR on TV, his John Deere Tractors and just being outside. Irving is survived by two sisters, Verna (husband, Dean) Kruize of Sibley and Mildred (husband, Herbert) Poss of Sioux City, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Rose Stallman; one brother, Virgil Stallman and two sisters, Bernice Reiners and La Vonne Knerr.
