George, IA Wilford "Bill" Grotluschen, age 93 of George, IA died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society in George, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 18th at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in George, IA, with Reverend Dr. Paul Soderquist officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 17th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home in George, IA. Wilford C. "Bill" Grotluschen was born February 2, 1920 in George, Iowa, the son of John and Linda (Linke) Grotluschen. He grew up in the George area and attended George schools. Bill served in Europe and North Africa from 1942-1945 with the 15th Army during WWII where he was awarded the bronze star. Shortly after discharge he worked at various jobs, and then began working for Bruns Motor Company as an automotive specialist. Later he became the manager/mechanic of George Co-op Oil. On January 1, 1949 he married Hazel J. Kruger. Hazel passed away April 5, 1976. Bill was a 66 year member of the American Legion Post 404. He was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served on various committees and the church council. He served on the library board and as a volunteer fireman for the town of George. His hobbies included fishing and woodworking. He married Henrietta Bus in August of 1984. Henrietta passed away in June, 2010. Bill is survived by his children: Linda (Will) Huizenga of Orange City, IA, Lynn (Barb) Grotluschen and John (Gloria Strode) Grotluschen all of George, IA; a sister, Dorothy Grave of Sheldon, IA; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; step-children, Bill and Bruce Vonder Leith, Bonita Lucy, Barbara Mitchell and Becky Wallace and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Henrietta; brother-in-law, Earl Grave and a step-daughter, Brenda Cheeseman.
