Reinhardt Vermund Jensen

LARCHWOOD, IA Reinhardt Jensen, age 97 of Larchwood, IA died Monday, September 5th, 2011 at Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the United Church of Christ in Larchwood, IA, with Pastor Kelly Volk officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, IA, with military honors by the Flessner American Legion Post No. 561 of Larchwood. Visitation will be Friday, September 9th from 2-8 p.m., with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Larchwood. Reinhardt Vermund Jensen was born February 1, 1914 in Askov, MN to Jens and Clara (Nielsen) Jensen. He had three brother and two sisters. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, School of Agriculture in 1934. He had quite a variety of careers throughout his life which deeply enriched his life and everyone who he worked with. Some of the jobs he had were working on a chicken ranch in California; mining for gold in Mountain City, Nevada, worked at various dairies, farming, Minnesota State Bee Inspector for 11 years and eventually a beekeeper himself. He also served in the Army in Monterey, CA from1942-1944. In 1973, he married Anna Adeline Jensen from Larchwood, IA. He became an instant father and grandfather to three children and eight grandchildren. Reinhardt and Adeline lived in Askov for three years and then moved to Larchwood for the remainder of their lives. Adeline died in 1998, just seven months short of their 25th wedding anniversary. Reinhardt was always helping neighbors with snow-blowing and lawn mowing and was a great gardener. He was well-known for his story-telling, and anyone who knew him will attest he had a good yarn for every occasion. Reinhardt is remembered for his great love for his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, each having been the recipient of his joyous stories and a wonderful horsy ride on his knee. Reinhardt is survived by his children, Anita (Loren) Bosler, Inwood, IA and Bill Overman, Oconto, WI; nine grandchildren, Julie (Byron) Reeder, Independence, IA, Ronda (Mike) Hinsch, Harrisburg, SD, Lowell (Paula) Bosler, Alvord, IA, Loren (Janet) Bosler, Norfolk, NE, Jill (Robert) Anderson, Sioux Falls, SD, Jesse Overman, Los Angeles, CA, Mary Overman, West Allis, WI, Stephanie Overman West Allis, WI and Jadda Kemp, Phoenix, AZ. He has 12 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Reinhardt was preceded in death by his parent, Jens and Clara; brothers, Otto and Clarey; sisters, Alfrieda Andersen, Doris Goltz and Naomi Johnson, and wife Adeline, and daughter, Judy Kemp.
