Rock Rapids, IA Marvin F. Zornig, 96, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Funeral Services will be 11:30am, Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30am to the service time at the funeral home. Marvin Zornig was born on May 14, 1912 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of William and Ella (Dickman) Zornig. He married Dorothy Huisman on March 21, 1934 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; she later died on March 5, 1993. Marvin had farmed most of his life in Lyon County. He also had worked at the Gage Elevator in Lester, Iowa, for 10 years retiring in 1974. He was past-president of the Lyon County Farm Bureau where he was a long time member. Marvin enjoyed fishing especially his trips to northern Minnesota (Lake Ottertail) and winter fishing on the Iowa Great Lakes. He was an avid dancer, and enjoyed dancing at least twice a week until he was 92. Marvin is survived by one daughter: Diane Friesner of Estherville, Iowa; one son: Dennis Zornig of Clinton, Iowa; four grandchildren: Ben Clark and his wife Katie of Frisco, Texas, Katie Quiring and her husband Chris of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Matt Zornig of Iowa City, Iowa, and Jennifer Harris and her husband Quintin of Lawrence, Kansas; 7 great-granchildren: Andrew, Cale, and Jordan Quiring, Brady Clark, and Keegan, Finn, and Jack Harris. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, and one sister. Memorials can be made to a charity of your choice.
