Judy Schlumbohm

Rock Rapids, IA Judy Schlumbohm, age 66, of Rock Rapids, IA passed away peacefully on May 17, 2011 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by family at the time Jesus opened His arms and took her home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 21 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids with Rev. Dan Kordahl officiating. Private family burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Friday, May 20th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. Judy Schlumbohm was born November 15, 1944 in rural Rock Rapids, IA to Richard and Helena (Klaassen) Sprock. She attended Liberal # 4 Country School until 8th grade where she was the only one in her grade from K-8th. She graduated from Central Lyon High School. Two days following graduation she began working at Riter-Henneberg Law Firm in Rock Rapids, which later became, Austin-Habberkorn-Kippley. She dedicated 49 years to the Firm where she was greatly respected. Judy married Lynn Schlumbohm on October 2, 1964. The couple made their home in Rock Rapids. Judy was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild. She also served on the Rock Rapids Municipal Housing Board, was a member of the Rock Rapids Business Women, and a member of the Red Hat Society. Judy enjoyed spending time with her friends the Boji Bunch who were all members of the class of 1962. Judy also enjoyed bus trips with her friends and family. Judy was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Judy had a selfless love that was felt and seen by so many people. Whatever it was she was there. She was truly the best. She was always in the stands supporting her kids and grandkids whether it was football, basketball, softball, soccer, dance, or racing. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Lynn Schlumbohm, Rock Rapids; sons, Lee (Jackie) Schlumbohm, Sioux Falls, and Lance (Jill) Schlumbohm, Rock Rapids; grandchildren, Lindsay, Devon, Tyler, and Cole Schlumbohm, all of Sioux Falls, Sutton and Afton Schlumbohm, Rock Rapids; great-grandchild, Jaelyn Schlumbohm, Sioux Falls; mother, Helena Sprock, Rock Rapids; brother, Denny (Sandra) Sprock, Dick (Barb) Sprock, Brillo (Pat) Sprock all of Rock Rapids; sisters, Sandy Sprock, Sioux Falls, Kathy (Fred) Christians, Rock Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Richard Sprock.
