Sibley, IA Donald Dagel, age 61 of Sibley, IA died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Sibley, with Pastor Doug Noonkester officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 14th from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Donald Dean Dagel was born September 1, 1950, the son of Richard Claire and Margaret Marie (Brandt) Dagel in Sibley, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Sibley and later attended NITC automotive mechanics school in Sheldon. On September 25, 1968, he was united in marriage to Linda Robinson in Sheldon, Iowa. The couple made their home in Sheldon from the time they married until 1984, when they moved to Sibley. To this union two children were born Dawna and Richard. After completing his education, Don was employed by the Co-op Oil in Sheldon and Archer. Subsequently, Don and his brother John owned and operated Don & Johns Skelly gas station and a corn shelling business in Sibley. Many people in the community liked spending time at their station visiting with them. He most recently worked for the Coop Elevator in Sibley. Don restored his fathers 1946 Silver King Tractor and liked competing in tractor pulls and attending antique tractor events. He enjoyed their vacation trailer in Okoboji and boating on the lake. Don most especially cherished his time with family and friends. Donald is survived by his wife of almost forty-three years, Linda Dagel of Sibley, IA; two children, Dawna Rosner of Sacramento, CA and Richard Dean Dagel of San Francisco, CA; six siblings, Gary (Cathy) Dagel of Sibley, IA, Jack (Carol) Dagel of Ocheyedan, IA, Donna Dagel of Vista, CA, Pat (Doug) Mahlman of Sibley, IA, Mike (LeAnn) Dagel of Sibley, IA, Peggy Dagel of Sibley, IA, Mark (Brenda) Dagel of Ocheyedan, IA, two Sisters in Law, Mary Robinson of Primghar, IA, and Karen (Dagel) Witham of Humbolt, IA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dennis, Harold and John Dagel; and a Brother in Law, Jack Robinson.
