Violet Marie Borman

Violet Marie Borman, age 97 of Larchwood, IA died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 14th at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1700 East 6th St., Sioux Falls, SD, with Pastor Laura Borman officiating. Committal service will be at 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Friday, August 13th from 2:00 to 7:30 PM, with the family present 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Violet Marie Borman was born on September 28, 1912 to George and May (Peterson) Inglett, on a homestead north of Rock Rapids, Iowa. She attended country grade school and graduated in 1931 from Wilson High School in Rock Rapids. After graduation, she taught country schools in the Rock Rapids area. She married Harold H. Borman in March of 1935. They began their married life together by moving to the Borman family farm south of Rock Rapids and lived with Harolds parents. Harolds parents retired and moved to Rock Rapids. Harold and Violet continued to work the family farm for several years. In 1949 they moved to a farm near Lester, IA, and continued to farm until Harolds retirement. Violet was a great cook, and her children especially loved her pork chops, homemade dressing and prune cake. They built a home in Larchwood, IA and Harold went to work for Lyon County. On December 6, 1979, Violets husband of 44 years, Harold, passed away. Violet continued to live in Larchwood until 2008 when she entered an assisted retirement home at the age of 95. She moved to a nursing home in 2010 and passed away this past Wednesday, August 11, 2010. She is survived by her children, Donald (Hermina) Borman of Sioux Center, IA, Marlys (Carter) Anderson of Beresford, SD, and Darold (Laura) Borman of Sioux Falls, SD; one brother, Virgil (Geraldine) Inglett of Sherman, SD; seven grandchildren, Denise Boer, Eric Borman, Amy Borman, Stacy Spaans, Brian Anderson, Kay Anderson Kessler and Travis Borman; and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Harold, she was preceded in death by her parents, George and May Inglett; one brother, Vernon Inglett; and one sister, Dorothy Dunn.
