Charles Huston

Rock Rapids Chuck Huston, age 65 of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA. A Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, Nov. 25th at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Charles Milo Huston was born on February 22, 1941 at Hibbing, Minnesota, the son of Milo Ord and Bernice (Merrifield) Huston. As a young person he grew up in Fergus Falls, MN, attending Fergus Falls Community Schools. When Chuck was a teenager he and his family moved to Worthington, MN. He graduated from Worthington High School in 1959. He was married to Charlotte Boyer on June 3, 1961 in Worthington, MN. They lived in various places, such as Kansas City, MO, Round Lake, MN, Brewster, MN, Little Rock, IA, and in 1972 moved to Rock Rapids, IA. In 1978 Chuck married Jane Boneschaans in Worthington, MN. In 1981 he married Deloris Dee Amundson. During Chucks working years he drove truck and worked as a mechanic for Sathers in Round Lake, MN, a mechanic at Standard Amoco Station in Rock Rapids, IA, and again drove truck for Werner Enterprises in Omaha, NE, where he was award two times the Safe Driver Award and the Million Miles Accident Free Award. He was a member of the Rock Rapids Gun Club, National Muzzle Loading Association, National Riffle Association, and attended the Baptist Seminary. He was a volunteer with the Boy scouts. Chuck was a gun enthusiast, antique collector, history buff, outdoorsman mountain man , excellent wood worker and craftsman. He enjoyed trap shooting, horses and pets. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and loved sharing stories with family and friends with an unfailing memory for time, places, dates and events. He was proud to have had the opportunity to have driven through all 48 states. On July 26, 2003 Chuck was involved in an automobile accident and suffered from brain trauma. He then needed health care for the remainder of his life. In October of 2004 he entered the Rock Rapids Health Care Centre. He is survived by two children, Dean C. (and Betty) Huston of Westfield, Indiana, and Linda D. (and Mark) Wessels of Rock Rapids, IA; three grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin and Alan; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Dillon; two sisters, JoAnne (and Jim) Jackson, Susan (and Harlan) Helmers; and many other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Steven Huston; and one infant son, Dwayne Ward Huston.
