Luverne, MN George Vogt, age 95 of Luverne, MN, formerly of Ellsworth, MN, died Sunday morning, December 17, 2006, at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20th at Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, MN with Rev. Bill Kleymann, officiating. Burial will follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery at Ellsworth, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with the family present at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, MN. George H. Vogt was born on February 12, 1911 at Sibley, Iowa, the son of Henry and Anna (Donker) Vogt. He attended country school near Sibley. He was united in marriage to Anna DeWitt on December 24, 1931 in Sioux Falls, SD. Together, George and Anna farmed near Little Rock, IA, Rushmore, MN and Ellsworth, MN, retiring in 1970, when they moved into Ellsworth. He enjoyed fishing, Bingo and playing cards. George and Anna were blessed with several trips to various places in the U.S. during their retirement years. He also had a passion for arts and crafts, building things such as trunks, wishing wells and lamps. He was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, serving as a deacon for many years. He also was a member of the Little Rock Township School Board and Grand Prairie Cemetery Board. Georges family will remember him as a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, with a strong work ethic, and unwavering faith. This past Sunday, December 17, 2006, George died at Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne, MN, at the age of 95. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Anna Vogt of Luverne, MN; three sons, William H., and his wife, Dixie Vogt of Rock Rapids, IA, George J., and his wife, Donna Vogt of Hartford, SD and Gordon L. Vogt of Louisville, KY; two daughters, Shirley Ann, and her husband, George Heidebrink of Worthington, MN and Betty Jean, and her husband, Larry Rosenberg of Slayton, MN; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude Anning of Luverne, MN; two brothers, Paul Vogt of Saskatchewan, CAN and Harold Vogt of Luverne, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ann Vogt; a daughter, Henrietta Mae; four brothers; and three sisters.
