STEEN, MN Cornelius Stub Elbers age 76 of Steen, MN died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at his home in Steen, MN. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at The Reformed Church of Steen with Rev. Dan Ramaker, officiating. Burial with military honors will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Eastside Cemetery of Steen. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present at the Roste Funeral Home of Hills. Cornelius Stub Elbers was born September 21, 1930, at Steen, MN the son of John and Helen (Hoff) Elbers. Stub grew up in Steen where he attended Steen Public School and graduated from Hills Public School in 1949. After his education he worked at A. R. Woods in Luverne before serving his country in the United States Army for two years in Korea. Upon his honorable discharge he returned home to Steen and started working at the Hills Creamery and then took over his fathers corn shelling business. He was married in 1961 at Rock Rapids. Later in life he ran a maintainer for Rock County in Clinton Township until he retired in1998. Stub played softball for the Steen town team in his younger years and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed all sports and also enjoyed going fishing. Stub was a lifetime member of the Steen Reformed Church and the American Legion. This past Tuesday, March 20, 2007, Stub died unexpectedly at his home in Steen at the age of seventy-six. He is survived by his siblings, Grace Van Maanan of Rock Valley, IA; James and his wife, Larona Elbers of Steen; MN; Arlene and her husband, Jim Church of Chanhassen, MN; Marvin and his wife, Jean Elbers of Brandon, SD; Helen Doreen and her husband, Larry Schuck of Sibley, IA; Carol and her husband, Marion Van Bemmel of Steen, MN; and Beverly and her husband, Gary Siebring of George, IA; sister-in-law, Wilma Elbers of Luverne, MN; along with many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Cornelius was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen; one brother, Gilbert Elbers and one brother-in-law, Jacob Van Maanen.
