George, Iowa Claus W Klingenberg, age 93 of George, IA, died Sunday, August 5, 201,2 at the Good Samaritan Center at George, IA. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 10th at Zoar Presbyterian Church at George, IA, with Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Burial will follow in the Zoar Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 9th from 2:00- 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 P.M. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Claus W. Klingenberg was born July 5, 1919, on the family farm northeast of George, Iowa. He attended country school and helped his father with the daily operation of the farm. Claus was united in marriage to Alma M. Bowen on December 31, 1946, in Omaha, NE. They made their home on the family farm near George, while Claus helped his father farm. They then moved to Mattlock, IA, where Claus worked for Siebring Industries as a welder. Then in 1952 they moved to George and Claus worked for Lyon County in road maintenance. In 1956 they moved back to the family farm where for over 50 years he dairy and grain farmed. He also sheared sheep for many years. Claus and Alma entered the Good Samaritan Center, in George, IA, in 2009 where Alma passed away in October of 2010 after 63 years of marriage. Claus was a member of Zoar Presbyterian Church near George, IA. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, welding, tinkering with things, and listening to the Grand Ole Opry and polka music. His family will remember him as an intelligent and skilled man who was gentle and most patient. He took great pride in his many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Sheryl (Arvid) Colby of Granada, MN, Lavanda (Madonna) Klingenberg of Armstrong, IA, Margaret (Robert) Schwab of George, IA, Willard Klingenberg (special friend Nola Nelson) of Sibley, IA, Doug (Dona) Klingenberg of George, IA, Ivan Klingenberg (special friend Lois Williams) of Armstrong, IA, Arlen (Kim) Klingenberg of Garretson, SD, Thelma (Tim) Yager of Bigelow, MN, Brenda (Daryl) Van Oort of George, IA, and Robert (Josie) Klingenberg of George, IA; twenty-nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence (Sara) Klingenberg and Larry (Ruth) Klingenberg, both of Worthington, MN; one sister, Nancy (Fred) Blau of Reading, MN; and many other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Klingenberg; wife, Alma, son, David and son-in-law James Fettes.
