Sibley, IA Ardith (Larsen) Carlson age 88 of Sibley, IA died Sunday June 16, 2013 at her home in Sibley, IA. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Sibley, with Pastor Doug Noonkester officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the First Baptist Church in Sibley. The Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley is handling arrangements. Ardith (Larsen) Carlson was born on October 7, 1924, the daughter of Rolland and Nancy (Peck) Larsen in Sibley, Iowa. She grew up in Sibley and attended school here. On November 7, 1942, Ardith was united in marriage to Wilkie Christians in Dakota City, NE. To this union one son Rolland was born. The couple lived in various places such as Sibley, IA, Effie, MN and Bigfork, MN. During the time they lived in Bigfork, Ardiths husband Wilkie passed away in April of 1975. She later married Harry Carlson on September 23, 1975 in Fargo, ND. They made their home in Bigfork, MN and Fargo, ND for many years and most recently lived in Sibley, IA. Throughout Ardiths life she worked as a bookkeeper, telephone operator and welder. She enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, reading and visiting with family and friends. Ardith is survived by her son, Rolland (Nancy) Christians of Chiefland, FL; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Price of Sibley, IA; two grandchildren, Monique Smith of Sibley, IA and Kris Christians of Grand Rapids, MN; six great-grandchildren, Mary Smith, Max Smith, Charles Smith, Ardith Smith, Kaylanna Christians and Kelsey Christians; seven siblings, Jean Larsen of Sibley, IA, Lucille Bishop of Seattle, WA, Arlen (Mary) Larsen of Scappoose, OR, Doris (Glenn) Klingenberg of Sibley, IA, Jessie Kaciuba of Toms River, NJ, Arnold (Nancy) Larsen of Corte Madera, CA and Jim (Virginia) Larsen of Sibley, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rolland and Nancy (Peck) Larsen; brother, Allen Larsen; sister, Phyllis Josie; infant sister Evelyn Larsen; first husband, Wilkie Christians; and second husband, Harry Carlson.
