Sibley, IA Randy Jurgens, age 56 of Sibley died Saturday morning, July 28, 2007 at his home in Sibley. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 31st at the First Reformed Church in Sibley, with Rev. Gary Van Heukelom officiating. Private family burial will be prior to the service. Visitation will be Monday, July 30th from 2 " 8 PM, with the family present from 6 " 8 PM at the Walton-Roste Funeral Home of Sibley. Randy Lee Jurgens was born January 30, 1951 in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Verdus and Ethel (Den Beste) Jurgens. He was raised in Sibley, attended the Sibley community schools and graduated from Sibley High School in 1969. As a young man, Randy learned the carpentry business from his father. After high school Randy received his associates degree from Worthington Community College and then received training in architectural drafting at Jackson Vo-Tech in Jackson, MN. On August 18, 1973, Randy was united in marriage to Karen Sutherland at the American Lutheran Church in Windom, MN. The couple made their permanent home in Sibley. Randy worked with his father and brother in the carpentry business all his life. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sibley, serving as deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher and education superintendent. He also was a former member of the Sibley Volunteer Fire Department. Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood carving, watching sports and attending his childrens and grandchildrens activities. He was especially fond of the time he spent with his grandsons, doing special projects with them. Left to cherish his memory, is his loving wife of 33 years, Karen of Sibley, IA; two daughters, Kristi Jurgens of Sioux Falls, SD and Amy (Cory) Dykstra of Sibley; three grandsons, Cody, Wyatt and Cole Dykstra, all of Sibley; his mother, Ethel Jurgens of Sibley; a sister, Rhonda (Larry) Riebeling of Ashton, IA; a brother, Dennis (Darlene) Jurgens of Sibley, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Verdus Jurgens.
