Larry D. Wegter

Hartley formerly of Sibley Larry Wegter, age 63 of Hartley, IA, formerly of Sibley, IA died suddenly Friday, December 8, 2006 at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, IA. Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Monday, Dec. 11th at the Sibley Senior Citizen Center in Sibley, IA, with Shari Stamps and Tim Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec 10th from 4 " 8 PM with the family present from 6 " 8 PM at the Walton-Roste Funeral Home of Sibley. Larry D. Wegter was born on April 4, 1943 near Matlock, Iowa, the son of Charlie and Minnie (Terpstra) Wegter. Larry received his education in Herman, MN. After high school he married Karen Beyer and they lived and farmed various places until 1993, when Larry and Karen owned and operated a farm near Hartley, IA. Larry retired from farming in 2006. He also enjoyed carpentry work. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, gardening and visiting with family and friends. He also was very passionate about fishing. Larry had a knack for fixing and building things. He will be best remembered as a warm hearted person, willing to lend a hand. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 46 years, Karen Wegter of Hartley, IA; a daughter, Kim Mason and her husband, Scott of Early, IA; a son, Les Wegter and his wife, Kelly Ann of Muscatine, IA; five grandchildren, Steven, Katie, Kyle, Danielle and Charlie; step-mother, Annetta Wegter of Dassel, MN; two sisters, Sharlene Radbourne and her husband Paul of Canada and Ruby Ringdahl and her husband, Leonard of Harwood, ND; two brothers, Henry Wegter and his wife, Barbara of Fargo, ND and Daryle Wegter of Pallyup, WA; and several other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kelly Wegter; and two infant children.
