Rock Rapids, Iowa Isabelle Munns, age 91 of Rock Rapids, IA died on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11th at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Father Jeff Schleisman as Celebrant. Visitation will be Monday, June 10th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids. There will be a 7:00 p.m. Vigil service Monday evening at the church. Isabelle Antoinette Munns was born September 2, 1921 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Frances (Sample) Kellihan. She attended Rock Rapids Community Schools and graduated in 1939. She continued her education at Ottumwa Heights College in Ottumwa, Iowa. She returned to Rock Rapids and worked as a legal secretary for Fisher & De Waay for 7 ½ years. On May 24, 1948 Isabelle was united in marriage to Gerald Francis Munns at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids. They moved to a farm where they raised four children. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, served as President of St. Catherines Society, Grand Regent for Catholic Daughters of America, Court Seton 190, and was a Lector for many years. Isabelle was an effective organizer. She served many years as President of the Merrill Pioneer Hospital Auxiliary, P.T.A., and Music Boaster Club. She also was Secretary for Lyon County Extension Service, Lyon County Home Economic Service, Womens Bowling League, V.F.W. Womans Auxiliary member, Lyon County 4-H Club Leader and assisted her husband as Lyon County Fair Manager for over 20 years. She enjoyed traveling later in life with her husband across the United States. She was an avid card player, especially Pinochle with various card clubs in the Rock Rapids area and organized many of her class reunions. On May 24, 1998, she and Gerald celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. On September 20, 2012, Isabelles husband, Gerald, died after 64 years. This past Saturday, June 8, 2013 Isabelle died at the Sanford Hospital of Rock Rapids, IA. She is survived by three children, Mike Munns of Rock Rapids, IA, Peggy (Steve) Groves of Larchwood, IA and Eileen (Tim) Peters of Madison, SD; seven grandchildren, Shawn Munns of Denver, CO, Erin (Monte) Johanning of Sioux Falls, SD, Mike (Beth) Payne of Inwood, IA, Tara (Phil) Mueller of Sioux Falls, SD, Caitlin Payne of Ames, IA, Kara Peters of Brookings, SD and Hailey Peters of Madison, SD; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Estelle Sunderland of Manhattan, MT; sister-in-law, Betty Kellihan of Springfield, MO; and many other nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Frances Kellihan; her husband, Jerry Munns; a son, Patrick Munns; three brothers, George, Louis and Jesse Kellihan; two sisters, Margaret Lagana and Mary Lou Dykers; and a son-in-law, Mark Payne.
