Rock Rapids, IA David W. Casjens, age 67 of Rock Rapids, IA died Sunday evening, July 29, 2007, at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2nd at Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, with Rev. Dean Shelly, officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 2nd from 9:30 a.m. until service time with the family present at the Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. David William Casjens was born November 15, 1939, at Hull, Iowa the son of Floyd M. and Veda (Hindt) Casjens. David was raised at Rock Rapids and attended school in Rock Rapids. David attended the University of Iowa and graduated on June 9, 1961 with a B.B.A. David served his country in the United States Air Force where he flew a KC-135 jet tanker. David was united in marriage to Charlene Roark on February 3, 1964 at Enid, OK. He attended the University of Iowa, College of Law and he graduated with a law degree and on June 5, 1970. That same year in September, David and Charlene moved to Rock Rapids. In 1972, he was elected Lyon County Attorney and served in this position until December of 1979. David served as a Director at the George State Bank from 1975 until 2007, he also served as a JAG officer, IA ANG, Sioux City, IA, Lyon County Judicial Magistrate for eight years, he served in Ready Reserve, USAF and was a Retired Major, USAF. On March 29, 2000, David retired from the Practice of Law. In 2006, David was diagnosed with cancer. David died this past Sunday evening, July 29, 2007, at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids at the age of sixty-seven. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Casjens of Rock Rapids and his brother, Floyd Casjens of Rock Rapids. David was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd M. and Veda, sister-in-law, Betty.
