Jasper, MN Lyle L. Baerenwald, age 62 of Jasper, MN died Monday, November 24, 2008 at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, Nov. 28th at Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jasper, MN, with Pastor Eugene Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery of Boyden, IA. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 27th from 5:00 " 8:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM prayer service at the Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jasper, MN. Lyle L. Baerenwald was born March 28, 1946 in Hull, Iowa, the son of George and Elsie (Heitritter) Baerenwald. He was raised on a farm north of Boyden, IA and attended Boyden-Hull Community Schools. After graduation he continued his education at Dunwoody studying mechanics. Lyle was united in marriage to Linda Lee Heemskerk on August 17, 1965 at St. John Lutheran Church in Boyden. He began driving truck with the Big 4, located in Sheldon, IA. In March of 1973, Lyle and Linda moved to Jasper where they farmed until 1982, when they purchased a steakhouse in Hardwick, MN, known as The Green Lantern. During this time Lyle attended Pipestone Voc-tech School for Ag Banking along with driving truck. In 1985, Lyle began working for PCA in Inwood, IA with Ag loans. After the office was closed he continued to drive truck and also worked at Peoples Bank in Rock Valley, IA for a couple of years. In 1991, Lyle and Linda purchased a farm near Jasper, where he farmed and continued driving truck. Lyle was a member of the Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed riding his Harley with his wife and friends. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. Lyle and Linda religiously attended the Clay County Fair for many years. His family will remember their father, grandfather, son and brother, as a hard working, fun loving man with a never ending sense of humor, even during the tough times. He is survived by his two daughters, Kristy (husband Kevin) Swenson of Madison, MN and Amy (husband Jay) Ripperda of Larchwood, IA; four grandchildren; his mother, Elsie Baerenwald of Jasper, MN; brother, Loren (wife Sheryl) Baerenwald of Jasper, MN; brother-in-law, Dennis Heemskerk of Worthington, MN; sister-in-law, Jill (husband Alan) Beyer of Hull, IA; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda Lee Baerenwald on March 7, 2008; his father, George Baerenwald; and parents-in-law, Florence and Wilbur Heemskerk.
