Jim Rozeboom

September 10, 1928 — April 15, 2008

NOTICE: Hills, MN Jim C. Rozeboom was born September 10, 1928, at the family farm near Luverne, Minnesota, the son of Bert and Hattie (Van Batavia) Rozeboom. He attended country school and graduated in 1946 from Beaver Creek High School in Beaver Creek, MN. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Sioux City, IA and worked at the Swift Packing Plant. He was united in marriage to Edith Anema on December 14, 1949, in Steen, MN. Soon after their marriage Jim and Edith moved to a farm in the Hills area where he farmed with his brother John. In 1952, they moved to the Luverne area and worked at the Forrest Dairy Farm. They then moved to Hardwick, MN in 1955 where they rented a farm. Jim began selling Clay and DeLavel Dairy and Farm Equipment in 1954 establishing the business of Jims Sales & Service. A farm was purchased in 1960 and they moved to Beaver Creek, MN. He farmed, especially loving his Red Angus cattle, sold dairy and farm equipment and had a manure hauling business; all of which he greatly enjoyed. Jim retired in 1989, and they moved to Steen, MN for a short time and then to Luverne, MN. During their retirement years, Jim and Edith spent winters in Texas and enjoyed traveling in their motor home. Jim always wanted to know what adventures and surprises lie on the other side of the hill. They were Charter members of the American Reformed Church in Luverne, MN. When Jim was not helping on the farm, he spent his spare time tinkering. He enjoyed repairing coffee pots and Christmas lights, fishing, and planting many trees. Jim and Edith spent countless hours with friends, family, and neighbors having conversations, coffee, and some of Ediths wonderful cooking at their home. Their children were sure there must be a sign on the interstate that said The coffee is on and the cookies are warm at the Rozeboom house!! Stop on by!! . On June 16, 2003, Jims wife, Edith suddenly became ill and died at the Luverne Community Hospital at the age of seventy-five. On August 4, 2004, Jim entered the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN, and remained there until this past Tuesday, April 15, 2008, where he died at the age of seventy-nine. He is survived by two daughters, Cherlyn Bosch of Valley Springs, SD, and Dolly (Tom) Van Der Weerd of Rock Rapids, IA; two sons, Harley Rozeboom of Jasper, MN, and Al (Denise) Rozeboom of Luverne, MN; and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Rozeboom of Garretson, SD; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; twin siblings, Harvey (Gertrude) Rozeboom of Hills, MN, and Burdette (Chuck) Oelrich of Hull, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
