Rock Rapids, Iowa Max H. Henry, age 69 of Rock Rapids, IA died Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 27th at the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Anita Bane officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Monday, March 26th from 3 " 8 PM at the Roste Funeral Home, with the family present from 6 " 8 PM. Max Harrison Henry was born July 1, 1937 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Richard and Lillian (Woodburn) Henry. He was raised in Rock Rapids and attended community schools, graduating from Wilson High School in 1956. Max entered the U.S. Army on June 2, 1960, serving his country overseas. He was honorable discharged on May 16, 1962, and returned Rock Rapids. He was united in marriage on June 1, 1963 to Marlys Gertz at the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, IA. They remained in Rock Rapids and Max began working as electrician for M & M Electric and Kerns Electric, before starting his own electrical business in 1972. He also worked at the Rapid Speedway with the Jaycees and various promoters. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, the VFW, American Legion, Lyon County Fair Association, and the Snow Lyons Club. He also was a volunteer with the Rock Rapids Fire Department for 12 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping at Westside Park in Rock Rapids, racing, and loved to play cards with his friends. He cherished the birth of his grandchildren and fishing and hunting trips with the guys and his brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marlys Henry of Rock Rapids, IA; two children, Michele (and Gaylen) Kelderman of Maurice, IA, and Mark (and Carol) Henry of Rock Rapids, IA; two grandchildren, Joshua Kelderman and Lilly Henry; two brothers, Donald (and Marilyn) Henry of Webster City, IA, and Robert (and Nancy) Henry of Bloomington, IN; a sister, Connie (and Mike) Harris of Cedar Falls, IA; a special aunt, Viola Wood of New Hampton, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lillian Henry. Blessed be his memory.
