Sibley, IA Irene C. Vaupel, age 93 of Sibley, IA died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, Aug. 3rd at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA, with Rev. Scott Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 2nd from 2:00 " 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Irene C. Vaupel was born January 15, 1916 at the family farm near Ashton, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Kate (Meyer) Schaa. She attended country school and helped her parents with the chores around the house and farm. On October 5, 1934 Irene was united in marriage to Fred J. Vaupel. The couple were blessed with three daughters, Nina, Clara and Iris. Irene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley. In 1976 Irenes husband, of 42 years, Fred died. Irene remained living in Sibley, IA. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, gardening, listening to music and reading. She also cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, as well as her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Iris (husband, Richard) Wright of Des Moines, IA; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred Vaupel; two daughters, Nina Werdal and Clara Barbee; one grandson, Doug Werdal; and one brother, Harry Schaa.
