Sibley, IA Gerrit deBoer age 90 of Pierson, IA, formerly of Sibley, IA, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Country View Manor in Sibley. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21st, 2010 at the Demco Center in Boyden, IA. Burial will follow at the Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice, IA. Visitation will be Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Gerrit deBoer was born May 19, 1920 in Friesland, Netherlands the son of Brant and Jetske (Vander Horst). He was raised and educated in Langweer, Netherlands. ON December 12, 1950 he was joined in marriage to Rosa Faber in LeMars, IA. The couple lived at Sibley, IA, Kingsley, IA and Pierson, IA. The couple lived in Pierson from 1957 to 2009. Gerrit worked at the Walnut Grove Feed in Cherokee from 1965 to 1975 and self-employed as a farmer. Gerrit is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Rosa deBoer; daughter, Ruth deBoer Krisher of Ogdensburg, WI; son, Brant (Joyce) deBoer of Waterville, KS; son, Peter (Ruthy) deBoer of Stillwater, OK; daughter, Jenae (Glenn) deBoer Krisher of Mesa, AZ; daughter, Janna (Kerry) deBoer Williams of Brewster, MN; and son Sydney deBoer of Bloomington, MN; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Sipke deBoer of Langweer, Netherlands and sister, Neltje (Folkert) deBoer Visser of Enscede, Netherlands. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brant and Jetske deBoer; and sister, Rutje deBoer Fekken.
