Little Rock, Iowa Denton Peters, age 79 of Little Rock, IA died Monday, October 8, 2007, at his home near Little Rock, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11th, at First Presbyterian Church of Little Rock with Rev. Scott Burdsall, officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery at Little Rock, IA. Visitation will be Wednesday Oct. 10th, from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Roste Funeral Home of George. Denton Peters was born January 5, 1928, on a farm near Little Rock, IA the son of Henry and Tena (Dkyhouse) Peters. Denton grew up on the farm where he attended country school and later attended Little Rock High School. After his education he stayed home to help his father farm. On September 14, 1951, Denton was united in marriage to Thelma Tirrel at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. They made their home and raised their family on a farm near Little Rock, IA. They later moved to Dentons family farm north of Little Rock, which is a Century Farm. Denton retired from farming but continued to help with the field work and farming as much as possible. He loved the farm and visiting with his many friends and family over a cup of coffee. In his spare time he would go golfing or do some fishing along with tinkering on the farm. He was a member of the Little Rock Town and Country, and the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. This past Monday morning, October, 8, 2007, Denton died at his home with his wife by his side at the age of seventy-nine. He is survived by his wife, Thelma of Little Rock, IA; four children, Deborah and her husband, Denny Kanengieter of Astoria, SD; Sandra and her husband, John Hill of Spirit Lake, IA; Dennis and his wife, Sherree Peters of Lake Park, IA and Todd and his wife, Pam Peters of Sergeant Bluff, IA; fifteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Bob Peters of Williamsburg, IA; two sisters, Leona Gustafson of Wausau, NE; and Lorraine Wiertsma of Sibley, IA; and a sister-in-law, Jennie Peters of Little Rock, IA. Denton was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Tena; one granddaughter, Joni Harms; one brother, Russell Peters; and one sister, Linda Peters.
