Lauretta Knobloch, age 74 of Alvord died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Sanford Hospice of Luverne, MN. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery at Lester. Visitation will be Sunday, May 1st, with the family present from 2:00 " 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall. Lauretta Ilene Knobloch was born December 4, 1936 in Goodfield, Illinois, the daughter of Adolph and Esther (Hartter) Tanner. She was raised in Deer Creek, IL and graduated from High School. She then attended beautician school. Lauretta was united in marriage on February 7, 1960 to Orvie Gene Knobloch in Deer Creek, IL. They moved to a farm near Alvord, IA where Lauretta was a homemaker and raised eight children. She then worked for Doohens Catering before working as a cook at Fellowship Village in Inwood, IA and most recently Rock Rapids Dinner Date. Lauretta was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. She enjoyed fishing, berry picking, mushroom hunting, sewing, traveling, reading, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Some of her fond memories were spending time at Cuttys Resort, fishing trips and traveling back to Illinois to visit her family. On December 7, 1997 her husband of 37 years, Orvie Gene Knobloch died. On January 3rd of 2011 Lauretta was diagnosed with cancer. Lauretta was at Avera Prince of Peace home where she received rehab for 6 weeks. She later entered the Luverne Hospice Cottage and remained there until this past Wednesday, April 27, 2011 when she died at the age of 74. She is survived by her children, David Lee Knobloch of Alvord, IA, Donald Dean (wife Lorry) Knobloch of Eureka, IL, Jerry Gene (wife Linda) Knobloch of El Paso, IL, Jimmy Allen (wife Sandy) Knobloch of West Bend, IA, Harlan Jay Knobloch of Dallas, TX, Virgil Glenn (wife Katrina) Knobloch of Bloomfield, IA, Lynette Ilene (husband Mark) Knips of Magnolia, MN and Alvin Jacob (wife Sandra) Knobloch; twenty-two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Verna Wettstein of Eureka, IL, Madolyn Tanner of Goodfield, IL and Phyllis (husband Kenneth) Rokey of Congerville, IL; one brother, Donald (wife Mary Alice) Tanner of Deer Creek, IL; and many other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Esther Tanner; husband, Orvie Knobloch; and brother-in-law, Robert Wettstein.
