Sibley, Iowa Geneva M. Faurot, age 87 of Sibley, IA died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA. Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Friday, June 26th at United Methodist Church in Sibley, IA, with Rev. Doug Harding officiating. Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Thursday, June 25th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Geneva M. Faurot was born July 3, 1921 at Hanston, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Nora (Abbott) Holmes. She was raised in Hanston, Kansas and as a young school girl she and her family moved to Walsh, Colorado, where she graduated from high school in 1940. After school she moved to Hutchinson, Kansas where she worked until late 1945. On January 20, 1946, Geneva was united in marriage to James L. Faurot in Sharpsburg, Iowa. After spending one year in Des Moines, Iowa, the couple moved to their home in Sibley, Iowa. Geneva was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at the Osceola County Coop Oil Company. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sibley and The Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing bridge and golfing. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James L. Faurot of Sibley, Iowa; two brothers, Glen (Kathline) Holmes of Lakin, Kansas and Delmar (Patsy) Holmes of Holly, Colorado; one sister, Louise (Charles) Hennegan of Lakin, Kansas; step-sister, Maxine Cogburn of Walsh, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nora Holmes; and two brothers, Roscoe and Willis Bill Holmes.
