Wendell D. Blau

George, Iowa Wendell D. Blau, age 61 of LeMars, IA formerly of George, IA died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, IA. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 24th at Jurrens Funeral Home of George, with Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George. Visitation will be Thursday, February 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Wendell D. Blau was born August 11, 1950 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Bernard and Anna (Akkerman) Blau. He was raised near George, IA and attended George Community Schools. He graduated from Westmar College in LeMars, IA in 1972. On January 12, 1974 Wendell married Becki Swenson in Rochester, MN. They lived in LeMars, IA until they divorced in 1991. Wendell worked construction for Harlan Builders until he began working at Wells Blue Bunny in LeMars. He retired with closed to 20 years of service. Wendell enjoyed golfing, fishing and when he was young he showed cattle at County and State Fairs, winning many Blue Ribbons. His family will remember him as a hardworking man who lived a simple life. He is survived by his son, Jason Blau of LeMars, IA; three grandchildren, Tristan Blau, Taylor Blau and Alexis Pickrell; one brother, Ronald Blau of Sibley, IA; and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Anna Blau; and his daughter, Tiffany Blau.
