Visitation will be Friday, July 22nd from 2 to 8 p.m. with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church in Lester. Jordan Ross Monen was born to Roger and Cheryl (Ageson) Monen at the Rock Rapids Hospital on September 21, 1993. God called our precious boy home too soon from injuries sustained in a tragic farm accident at his summer job. He would have been a senior at West Lyon High School with graduation plans for 2012. Jordan liked to live on the edge with nothing being black and white but instead a lot of gray area. Whether it was his curfew or driving his beloved 1993 S10 truck he always pushed the limits, sometimes just to see if he could get by with it. He attended West Lyon School where he participated in several sports but liked wrestling the best and earned the hardest worker award. He was also a member of FFA mostly because he liked the target shooting competition. Jordan loved hunting, fishing, shooting his bow, wrestling, dirt bikes, Snyder's pond, shed hunting, and hanging with his friends. He loved his 2 nephews and his niece but made a lousy babysitter. He flunked the crying mechanical doll assignment in school because he slept thru the dolls crying and one time, when he was watching a friends kids, was reluctant to change a messy diaper so he instead just put another diaper on top of the dirty one so nothing would leak out! He loved a good prank and pulled off as many as he could. He had quick wit and an easy smile. He was a regular in the school administration office and was getting to know Lyon county traffic cops all too well. It was suggested that he go into law enforcement after graduation since he was so experienced! But he also had a soft gentle side with a kind heart and a strong faith. He participated in a Kansas City mission trip and also a Pine Ridge mission trip with the Seeds of Faith Youth Group and he touched the lives of many. Also for many years he went with his good friends, Warren and Roxanne Newborg, on Wednesday nights to play a game with the elderly at the nursing home. For several years he made a trip with Cousin Roy to Cousin Lauras Sioux Falls church on Palm Sunday to help with bringing in the palms using live critters. Sometimes that got a bit wild but he loved being a part of the adventure. He also recently attended a youth retreat, TEC (Teens Encounter Christ), and had the privilege of experiencing the joy of being on a faith high and meeting many new friends. When he joined the church last year he gave a touching testimony talking about keeping his eyes on the finish line . He was painfully aware of being a sinner but he valued God's grace and enjoyed the promise of eternity in Heaven. Jordan will be forever missed by his Mom and Dad and his brothers, Brian and April, Adam and Alyssa, and Mitchell; and his nephews, Wyatt and Aden; and his niece, Ellie. He is also survived by his grandma, Lenore Monen; several aunts and uncles; many cousins; and many, many friends. Jordan was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Harold and Vivian Ageson and Gidvert Monen; Uncle Loren Monen and friend Ceasar Castillo.
