Ashton, IA Cecelia Johannes, age 94 of Ashton, IA died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, Jan. 26th at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton, IA, with Father John Vakulskas as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 26th one hour prior at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to: Ashton Fire Department, Ashton Public Library, Ashton First Response, and or DeBoer Grocery Museum. Cecelia Ann Johannes was born March 21, 1916 in Ashton, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Etta (Wallrich) Johannes. She attended and graduated from St. Josephs Catholic School in Ashton. After her education she began her career working at Ashton State Bank, retiring in 1995. She also remained living with her parents, caring for them until their death. Cecelia enjoyed growing her vegetable garden, playing cards, especially cribbage. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton. In November of 2000 she entered Country View Manor in Sibley, where remained until her death this past Monday. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Seivert of Ashton, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Etta Johannes; one brother, Matt Johannes; five sisters, Barbara Johannes, Clara Voss, Marie Niichel, Martha Spieler, and Ann Jones.
