Elsie Mae Heeren

Elsie Mae Heeren, age 87 formerly of Little Rock, IA died Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Sibley Nursing & Rehab Center in Sibley, IA. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM on Wednesday, September 20th at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, with Reverend Scott Burdsall officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be from 2 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 19th, with the family present from 6 until 8:00 PM at the Walton-Roste Funeral Home of Sibley. Elsie Mae (Bergman) Heeren was born on November 16, 1918, the daughter of Siefke and Helen (Fisher) Bergman in Little Rock, Iowa. She lived in Lyon County all her life. Elsie married Harry K. Heeren on November 14, 1942 and the couple farmed in the Little Rock area for a short time before moving to Little Rock. She did laundering out of her home for other people for several years. After her husband passed away she worked at the Little Rock Community School in the lunchroom for 15 years. She enjoyed visiting with people, crocheting, loved watching the birds and taking care of her grandchildren when they would visit. She entered the Bee Hive Assisted Living in Sheldon in 2001 and later moved to the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Care Center in March of 2005. Everyone who knew Elsie never heard her complain. This past Sunday, September 17th Elsie died at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Care Center in Sibley at the age of eighty-seven. Elsie is survived by three daughters: Virginia (husband Harlan) Klaassen of Little Rock, Valera (husband Larry) Frohwein of Sheldon and Susan (husband Gary) Wieseler of St. Helena, NE; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Cecil (wife Clarice) Bergman of George and John (wife Margaret) Bergman of Little Rock; one sister, Kathryn (husband Don) Saville of Sheldon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1970, one son Larry in infancy, one sister in infancy and one great grandchild in infancy.
