Beaver Creek, MN Vernon Harnack, age 80 of Beaver Creek, MN died Sunday, August 26, 2007, at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN. Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, August 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church in Beaver Creek, MN with Rev. Bill Davis officiating. Burial will follow the service at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne, MN. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, at the Roste Funeral Home of Hills, MN, with family members present between 6-8 p.m. Vernon E. Harnack was born on September 6, 1926 in Postville, Iowa to John and Ella Harnack. He graduated from Hartford High School in Hartford, SD in 1944. He served in the US Army from 1944 to 1947 with the Rainbow Division. Vernon operated a dairy farm near Harford, SD until 1955 when he moved his family and farm operation to north of Beaver Creek until he retired from farming in 1997. Vernon served on the Beaver Creek Lumber Yard Board; was on the Beaver Creek City Council; was a long time member of the American Reformed Church in Luverne where he served on the church board. In 1978 he became a member of the Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church. For a few years Vernon and Lyla owned and operated Beaver Creek Caf and Steakhouse in Beaver Creek, MN. Vernon is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lyla (Reese) Harnack; son, Ron and his wife Jan (Sandstede) of Taylors Falls, MN; Alan and his wife Zoe (Birky) Harnack of Beaver Creek, MN; daughters, Karen and her husband Dale Bosch of Beaver Creek; Pam and her husband Larry Franken of Luverne, MN; Step-daughters, Tammy (Reese) and her husband Dan Benson of Buffalo Center, IA; Sheila (Reese) and her husband Mark Jacobson of Valley Springs, SD; Valerie (Reese) and her husband Michael DeSchepper of Coleman, SD; Dawn (Reese) Klosterbuer and Guy Klosterbuer of Luverne, MN; Traci (Reese) Kracht and Kevin Harberts of Beaver Creek, MN; brothers, Les and his wife Emma Harnack of Omaha, NE; John Harnack of Sioux Falls, SD; and sister, Helen (Harnack) and her husband Ernie Hoefert of Sioux Falls, SD; 24 grand children and 24 great-grand children. He was preceded in death by wife Fanny (Reurink) Harnack of 24 years; a brother, Harold Harnack; infant sister, Lois Harnack; parents John and Ella Harnack. Vernon will be greatly missed by his entire family and all those who have had the pleasure of knowing him through the years.
