Sibley, IA Dick Marco age 77 of Worthington, MN died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center in Worthington, MN. Family will be gathering together and greeting guests at 9:00 a.m. Monday, November 4th, 2013 at the funeral home in Sibley. Services will begin 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 4th, 2013 at Jurrens Funeral Home Walton Chapel in Sibley, IA with Fr. Jim Callahan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Sibley. Dick Marco was born March 23, 1936 in Worthington, MN to Alphus and Clara (Kuiper) Marco. He attended country school near Ocheyedan and graduated from Sibley High School. On November 23, 1958 he was united in marriage to Marlys Stanton in Jackson, MN. To this union two children were born, Damon and Tanya. The couple made their home on the family farm near Worthington. In the year 2000 Dick retired after many years working for Frito Lay. He enjoyed working at his hobby farm, hunting and fishing. Dick was truly a people person and loved visiting with close friends and relatives as well as striking up a conversation with a complete stranger. He especially enjoyed keeping up with extended conversations via Facebook with Tanya and following the Minnesota Vikings. This past Thursday October 31st, 2013, Dick passed away at the Sanford Hospital in Worthington at the age of 77. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Marlys; son, Damon (Janine) Marco of Worthington, MN; daughter, Tanya Marco of Spirit Lake, IA; grandchildren, Cheyenne Marco of Vermillion, SD, Sawyer Marco and Jaeger Marco both of Worthington, MN, and Shania Marco of Spirit Lake, IA; brothers, Mark Marco of Ocheyedan, IA, and Roger (Nancy) Marco of Melvin, IA. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Alphus and Clara Marco; brother, Hollis Marco and sister-in-law, Betty Marco.
