Sibley, IA Violet Davis, age 87 of Sibley, IA, died Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley with Rev. Scott Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 5th from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Violet Minnie Davis was born to Karl and Minnie (Blunk) Wulf on December 15th, 1922 in Rock County, Minnesota. She was raised, and attended school in Beaver Creek and Luverne, MN. On September 26, 1941 she was united in marriage to Jack Davis in Luverne, MN. After their marriage they moved to Sibley in 1951. She and Jack owned and operated Sibley Cleaners on mainstreet for many years. After selling the business she worked for Exopak for ten years until she retired. She loved her job and made many friends at the plant. She loved to play cards and go dancing. She enjoyed painting ceramics. She loved her backyard garden and looked forward to planting, harvesting and canning every year. She was a great cook and loved reading her collection of cookbooks. Violet was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years. She loved to help with church dinners and bazaars. She is survived by her husband Jack of 68 years, her daughter Deb Stewart (Tom) of Sibley and son Judd (Bridget) of Mt. Morris, IL.; five grandsons Stephen Davis, US Army in Rammstein Germany, Robert Davis US Navy on the USS Florida in Kings Bay, Georgia, Benjamin Davis of Dixon, IL and Cameron Stewart of Eugene, OR and Wilder Stewart of Junction City, OR. She had one great grandson Justin Davis in Rammstein Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
