Iola Knobloch

Lester, IA Iola Knobloch, age 87 of Lester, IA died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 at the Rock Rapids Health Care Centre of Rock Rapids. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday January 18th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery at Lester. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 17th from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. with the family present at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall. Iola (Metzger) Knobloch, daughter of William and Ida (Banwart) Metzger, was born January 10, 1921, at Whittemore, IA. She attended school in the Whittemore and West Bend area and received a business education at Fort Dodge, IA. She worked as a legal secretary in Rock Rapids, IA. She married Walter Albert Knobloch on August 27, 1944 in Emmetsburg, IA. They lived near Alvord, IA for one year before moving to a farm near Hills, MN. She was widowed on October 7, 1964, and later moved to Lester, IA. She worked at the Albright Abstract Company in Rock Rapids for several years before retiring. Believing in God, she was baptized in the Apostolic Christian Church and was a member there since September 6th, 1953. Iola moved to Premier Estates in Rock Rapids in May 2001. She moved to the Rock Rapids Health Centre in July 2004 where she resided until her death on January 15, 2008 at the age of 87 years and five days. She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Larry (Sherryl) Knobloch of Hills, MN, Nancy (Leon) Baumgartner of Phoenix, AZ, Jean (Gary) Heyer of Larchwood, IA, Delbert (June) Knobloch of Rock Valley, IA, Daniel (ReJean) Knobloch of Rock Rapids, IA, and Marvella (Scott) Steffen of Morton, IL. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Arnold Metzger of West Bend, IA, and three sisters, Marie and Darlene Metzger of West Bend, IA and Zelma Knoblock of Lester, IA, and two sisters-in-law, Della Metzger of West Bend, IA and Rosie Metzger of Emmetsburg, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, infant daughter, Elda Mae, and grandson, Jeremy Heyer. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, Elizabeth Nester, and five brothers, Emil, Silas, Bernard, Wilmer, and Adrian Metzger.
