Sibley, IA Ralph E. Moose, age 83 of Sibley, IA formerly of Little Rock, IA died Friday, June 4, 2010, at his home in Sibley, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA with Pastor Deb Klaassen, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Little Rock, IA. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 " 8:00 with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. It was Ralphs request that there be no flower memorials and that other memorials be designated to a favorite charity. Ralph E. Moose was born February 28, 1927, at Madison, SD the son of William and Florence (Johannsen) Moose. After attending first grade in rural school, his family moved into Madison, where he completed grade and high school. Ten days before his high school graduation in 1945, he was drafted into military service, and his mother walked across the stage and received his diploma. Upon his discharge from the army, he attended General Beadle State Teachers College in Madison. In May of 1950, he was honored to graduate with a B.S. in education along with his mother, who received her degree in education at the same time. He received his MA degree from South Dakota State University in 1962. He was united in marriage to Joyce Kruse of Little Rock on March 29, 1957. In March, 1950 he purchased the Haley Cab Company in partnership with his brother. The same year he began driving bus for Jackrabbit Bus Lines. After selling the cab service, he continued to drive for Jackrabbit through August, 1954, when he began his teaching career in Ramona, SD. After one year, he began teaching in Little Rock, IA, where he taught for five years, followed by 27 years as senior high principal in Little Rock. He retired in 1987. In 1996 he and his wife moved to Sibley, IA. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, two daughters, Barb (Mike) Schmidt of Denison, IA; and Jana (Michael) Havlovic of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandsons, Daymon and Nolan Schmidt; one step-grandson, Elijah Havlovic; as well as one brother, Gerald Moose of Bemidji, MN and one sister, Sandra Moose of Jasper, MN. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents.
