Sibley, IA Arnie Voss, age 73 of Sibley, IA, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at his home in Sibley, IA. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM, Friday, Jan. 28th at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley. Burial with military honors will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 27th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Arnie Ray Voss was born June 14, 1937 on a farm northwest of Sibley, IA the son of Mattie (Kruse) and John Voss. Arnie grew up on a farm and attended Viola Township Country School near Little Rock, IA. Arnie served his country in the United States Air Force for four years and he was stationed at Dhahran Air Base in Saudi Arabia, Dover Air Base in Dover, DE and Norton Air Base in San Bernadino, CA. Upon his honorable discharge he returned home to northwest Iowa. On January 21, 1966, he was united in marriage to Tillie Hinrichs at Worthington, MN. Arine started his career in road construction, working as a loader operator for more than thirty-eight years. He worked for Brown and Legal Road Construction, Arcon Construction and Southern Minnesota Construction. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for over forty-five years. Arnie was a caring and loving husband, father, good brother and uncle. He enjoyed cutting wood and spending time with his family. Arnie died unexpectedly at his home Monday, January 24, 2010, at the age of seventy-three. He is survived by his son, Eric Voss of Sibley, IA; four siblings, Willis (Twila) Voss of Little Rock, IA; Russell Voss of Little Rock, IA; Harris (Lois) Voss of Ellensburg, WA; and Marge (Ron) Buysman of Canton, SD; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Tillie. Blessed be his memory.
