Little Rock, IA Alan J. Trei, age 63 of Little Rock, Iowa died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at his home in Little Rock, IA following an extended illness. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, February 25th at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA, Rev. Scott Burdsall officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be Friday, February 24th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. Jurrens Funeral Home of Little Rock is in charge of services. Alan J. Trei was born November 5, 1948 in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Earl E. and Myrna (Kruger) Trei. He was raised on their family farm south of Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School. He entered the United States Navy in 1966, serving in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1969. Alan was united in marriage to Cora Boekhout on February 14, 1970 at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA. They started out living in Little Rock and then moved to Ashton, IA for a couple of years, then moved back to Little Rock. Alan worked as a cook for 20 years at the Cedar Cabin in Ashton. He then started working at Stewart Construction in Rock Rapids, IA. Alan was a past member of Zoar Presbyterian Church in George, most recently attended the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, life member of DAV, member of Little Rock American Legion and served four years on the Little Rock City Council. Alan enjoyed spending time with his wife, Cora, and their family, raising chickens, tinkering in the garage, hunting, fishing, and attending sales. Alan is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cora D. Trei of Little Rock, IA; three children, Angela M. Kruger of Aurelia, IA, Georjette E. (Joel) Korthals of Sibley, IA, and Alan D. Trei of Little Rock, IA; seven grandchildren, Brooke, Bret, Brentt and Brecklynn Korthals, and Carson, Chloe and Caela Kruger; his mother, Myrna Trei of Sibley, IA; four brothers, Denny (Micci) Trei of Spirit Lake, IA, Steve (Sandi) Trei of Barron, WI, Jim (Linda) Trei of Rock Rapids, IA and Fred (Carol) Trei of George, IA; one sister, Elizabeth (Lyle) Ver Steeg of Sibley, IA; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl E. Trei; son-in-law, Mike Kruger.
